27 Weeks and Counting

Wahoo, I've almost made it to my third trimester! It blows my mind to think that in 3 months we will have a baby. I get so excited every time I think about meeting little Evan. Life hasn't been too exciting lately, but here's the Ivie family update:

Gunner: Caught a bird this week. He was out in the yard longer than he normally stays and when I went to go check on him, I noticed him just laying on the patio playing with what I thought was a "toy." However, I soon noticed that the "toy" was surrounded by feathers...poor little bird. It was SO disgusting.... We get quite a few crickets in and around our house that seem to keep him pretty preoccupied.

Baby Evan: Weighs almost 2 pounds, the size of a cauliflower, and with his legs extended is about 14 1/2 inches long. He has more than doubled his size in the past 15 weeks. He can now open and close his eyes, suck on his fingers, and recognize voices. His movements are now bigger than ever and can be seen just by looking at my belly. Can't wait for our little guy to get here!

Dayne: School is keeping him busier than ever. His classes are pretty rough, but he is studying hard and doing well. He only has about a month left of the term so he is getting excited for a little break. His new hobby is golfing; lucky for him, there are TONS of golfing courses in our area. Despite being pretty busy with school, he still finds time to read his nerdy books :)

Me: Thanks to all of the prayers on my behalf, the zofran pump has worked MIRACLES! Although I still get sick a few times a day, the pump has made life SO much better; I feel I can function pretty normally again. Although my nausea and vomiting are pretty much under control, my kidneys have started giving me a little trouble. Last week I went in and was diagnosed with hydronephrosis. Basically it's swelling of the kidney and ureter because of my growing uterus. The flare-ups come and go and feel like I'm passing a kidney stone-it's pretty painful. Unfortunately, this will last until the baby is born, but the end is in sight! I feel so blessed by all the many prayers that have been said on my behalf-thank you so much-I can sure feel them! I know that it is only because of these prayers that I've been able to start working! I'm very grateful to have a job and will work as long as my health allows! Thanks again for your love and support! Here are a few preggo shots going into my third trimester:

A few bits and pieces of randomness-

First, Gunner's new trick is giving hugs. Don't worry, Gunner isn't a giant, Dayne is kneeling down in this picture.

Second, I got my first nursing job! It's at a behavioral health center that is a few miles from our house. Not my absolute first choice, but I'm very grateful to have a job. I start in a little over a week and am praying that my health will allow me to work!

Our All American 4th of July

Dayne and I celebrated our 4th of July the all American way-went to a baseball game, ate hot dogs, and watched fireworks. We got together with the Simpsons a long with a few of their friends and went to an Arizona Diamondback's game. Although I'm not a huge baseball fan, I had a blast! Luckily, the game was indoors AND air conditioned which made for a very pleasant game! We ate our hot dogs and watched the game. After the game, they opened up the ceiling and had a big fireworks show. To say the least, it was a successful 4th of July! Thanks for the great time Simpson family!

In front of Chase Field

They opened the roof for the fireworks-SO COOL!

Evan Chris Ivie

Wahoo, I've made it to my 25 week mark. Last week, I started on home health care to help me feel a little better. They put in an IV and have me hooked up to a Zofran pump. It's been a little discouraging still being sick despite these health measures. I had a doctor's appointment this past week and he said to give it a little bit more time to see if it ends up being helpful. So I'm still hopeful that giving everything a little more time will start to help. Thank you for all of your prayers; It brings tears to my eyes knowing the prayers that have been said on my behalf. It's been pretty hard, but every time I feel the baby moving, I know that it will be worth it. I had another ultrasound this week and everything is progressing perfectly! The baby is growing healthy, strong, and right on schedule which makes everything worth it.

I woke up a few mornings ago and I swear a little preggo belly just popped out overnight. I looked at Dayne and said pointing to my stomach, "this was NOT here yesterday." It's so fun just to look down at my stomach and see our little baby wiggling and moving around.

We have decided to name our little guy after two of the most beloved people in our lives-our dads. Dayne's father passed away when he was a little boy and we feel honored to name our baby Evan, to carry on Dayne's father's namesake. Evan's middle name will be Chris after my dad who has always had such a special place in my heart. What an honor to name our little guy Evan Chris Ivie after two remarkable fathers.

Last week we were SO blessed to have Dayne's sister Nicole and her family come visit us for a few days! I can't tell you how wonderful it felt to be surrounded by family again! I wish I would have taken pictures to document the wonderful time we had. We started out the fun family time with a trip to the water park Big Surf. It was a great way to cool off in the Arizona heat. I don't think the temperature dropped below 110 degrees the entire time they visited. We had a great time in the wave pool and riding the water slides. Braxton and Blaze were quite the dare devils and went down ALL of the slides. We also enjoyed a lot of shopping, eating out, watching movies, family time, and visiting. My "best girl" Berlyn was such a joy to have around. It felt so great to have someone "all girl" in my house once again! Briggs couldn't be any cuter if he tried. Every where we went people stopped and commented on what a handsome little guy he is. I'm so glad that Nicole shares the same love for shopping that I do-we got a lot of shopping done! Dayne had such a great time having some guy time and going to Cabellas with Dan, Braxton, and Blaze. Gunner LOVED having the kids around and once he settled down, he made some new best friends. Thanks for making the drive to see us Dean family! We had such a wonderful time and love you Nicole, Dan, Braxton, Blaze, Berlyn, and Briggs
