Once upon a time in the land of Rexburg, there lived a young man named Dayne. Not only was Dayne a dashing young man, but had such a good and pure heart. In that same land of Rexburg lived a young lady named Meagan. Now Meagan and Dayne had similar interests and attended the same Anatomy and Physiology class. The first time the two young lads saw each other was not “love at first sight.” In fact, Meagan was dating another gent and didn’t think much of the meeting. However, she did find Dayne quite handsome. A few weeks passed and the newly single Meagan thought, “hmmm I want to get to know this Dayne fellow.” However, Dayne was a chicken and wouldn’t talk to Meagan unless she approached him first. However, Meagan, being the brilliant young lady she was, caught on to his cowardly ways and decided to take the initiative. Meagan started walking “slowly” after class hoping that Dayne would catch up with her to talk to her.
One day, the two went to an extra credit forum on campus. It just so happened that the two young lovers sat by each other. They talked the entire time and made fun of the speaker. To this day neither remembers what the forum was about. This inspired Meagan to ask Dayne a very important question; Meagan had to babysit her four little cousins that coming Friday and wanted to “test” Dayne’s children skills. However, she didn’t want to sound too forward. She knew that she needed to disguise her plan to make Dayne come babysit with her. She came up with a brilliant way to phrase the question. She then proceeded to ask Dayne if he wanted to go on an “adventure” with her that following weekend. This then prompted Dayne to get her phone number. So of course, Meagan attributes her cunning ways to the start of their wonderful journey together.
Friday came quickly and the two young college students headed down to Idaho Falls to babysit Meagan’s cousins. Meagan began to fall quickly as she watched Dayne interact with her family. He was so sweet, and SO great with the kids. The night was so much fun and went by very quickly. Meagan and Dayne could talk so easily with each other and there was never an awkward silence. The conversation never seemed forced, and the two enjoyed each other’s company. After that date, the two spent every single day together. Their relationship progressed fast and by the end of the week, they had a “DTR” that went something like this:
“Do you think we should date?”
“Ya, let’s date.”
Although things progressed rather smoothly, their first kiss was anything but smooth. The love birds were talking and Dayne went in for a kiss. Right before he was going to touch Meagan’s lips to his, he chickened out and turned his head brushing his lips along her cheek. So of course, Meagan replied to this situation by calling him a “chicken.” This made for an awkward situation. Now Dayne felt obligated to kiss Meagan, but the moment had passed. The couple spent the next hour discussing whether or not they should kiss. Romantic, eh?
Although these two young lovers were quick to start “dating,” their courtship continued for many months. Feelings of love came quickly but there were still some things that needed to be figured out. Dayne prayed and felt like Meagan was one day going to be his wife; however, Meagan’s answer came a lot slower. However, Meagan came to the realization one day that she wasn’t receiving her answer, whether or not to marry Dayne, because she hadn’t made the decision in her mind. Meagan then decided that she wanted to be with her best friend the rest of her life; she couldn’t stand the thought of not having him by her side. As soon as the decision was made, the Spirit confirmed in her heart that Dayne was to be her husband.
In September 2010, Dayne asked Meagan to be his wife. This made Meagan the happiest girl in the entire kingdom. On December 28, 2010, Meagan and Dayne were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City temple. Meagan and Dayne will always remember the feelings that accompanied that special day: gratitude, love, happiness, and pure joy. Dayne and Meagan’s love continue to grow every single day. Dayne and Meagan know that keeping the marriage covenants they made together and with their Heavenly Father will bless their lives through the eternities.
