Making Small Corrections

This week in class we have been talking about deception portrayed through media: articles, websites, magazines, commercials, and research. It is so important that we always get our information from a credible source. This made me think about the many deceiving traps of Satan. Satan tries and tempts us in ways that may seem small and insignificant at the time. However, this is how he gets us off of the track that leads back to our Heavenly Father. It is so important that we obey even the small things so that we are kept on the path of righteousness.

I've heard this thought compared to driving on the freeway. Imagine driving on the freeway. Now think about how many small corrections are make with the steering wheel in order to keep in the traffic lane. If you didn't make these small corrections every couple of seconds, it would be impossible to stay in the traffic lane. It is so important that we do all of the "small things" in order to keep us from drifting into "other lanes."

One of those "small corrections" I have had to make in my own life is family home evening. Dayne and I haven't been the best about remembering to have family home evening every Monday night. However, a couple of weeks ago it hit me just how important family home evening should be in our home. Ever since we have taken the time on Monday night to have FHE, I have noticed an extra added measure of peace in our home. I have also noticed that our relationship has grown stronger with each other and our Heavenly Father. I know that FHE will not only bless our lives, but the life of our future family.

Just as we must always make sure the information coming from the media is provided by a credible source, it is so important that we realize that our Heavenly Father is always a perfect credible source. We must always listen to His promptings and follow His plan by doing the small and simple things to keep us in the right lane of traffic.
